Meagan Sheehy, MA, LPC, LMFT

Hi! I'm Meagan and I'm passionate about helping my clients live their best, most authentic and meaningful lives.

I believe that everyone can benefit from questioning old patterns and ways of thinking that may feel instead, like absolute ways of being. Our stories can be told in a myriad of ways and it's my job to help you construct yours, in a way that enables healing from past struggles, congruence with authentic values and growth towards the future you deserve and dream of.

I believe in my client's strengths and know that it's these strengths as well as the willingness to be open, hopeful and curious, that are the keys to mental wellness and personal growth. And if you're not in the space to embody these qualities at the starting line, our sessions will be the safe space to cultivate them.

A little more personal...

I have always been an ambitious, self-starter, with a "plan". And when that "plan" wasn't panning out in my early twenties, I struggled with who I was and what I wanted to do in this life. That ambition and self-assurance dwindled, I turned to alcohol to cope; and for a few years I felt very lost. My true path began after I let go of that crutch, got sober at the age of 29 and started on a spiritual journey of discovering the true me. During this time I realized that my career, which consisted of 12 years in corporate America and a transition to running my own financial services business in an attempt to "fix" the dissastisfaction, was never going to lead to fulfillment or allow me to get closer to my authentic purpose in this life.

So, I went back to school to get my Master's in psychology and from the minute I sat down in my first class, I knew I was in the right place. From there, True You Therapy & Wellness was born. My hope is to help people embark on the same soul searching exploration that I've been blessed to partake in. Everyone deserves to open themselves to the vast possibilites that exist outside of a "plan," (which is usually based on old stories or societal norms, but we'll get to that later) and to instead create a life they're excited to live. Whether life has thrown you a curveball, you're feeling dissatisfied with your current relationships, job or the state of your internal dialogue; or, if you're simply sick of doing the same thing over and over expecting different results... I've been there. And I'm holding the space, believing for you, until you can believe for yourself, that you get to choose differently and uncover the true you. heart
The stats: I have a masters degree in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University and spent the early part of my career at Southern California Counseling Center, counseling a wide range of clients with presenting issues such as depression, anxiety, relationship and career dissastisfaction, substance abuse, infidelity and compulsive behavior.

Mackenzie Phelps, MA, Marriage and Family Therapist Associate, Professional Counselor Associate

Hi there! I'm Mackenzie and I'm passionate about supporting individuals across all stages of life, including adolescents, teens, young adults, pre-marital couples, families, and LGBTQIA+ clients.

I believe therapy is a transformative journey that should be accessible to everyone. I create a safe and inclusive space where individuals, premarital couples, and families can explore their identities, navigate life transitions, and foster resilience. I aim to create a space of comfort, vulnerability, healing, and growth. I personalize interventions to meet each client's unique needs, drawing from a variety of therapeutic approaches such as Emotionally Focused Therapy, family systems methods, mindfulness, and expressive therapies like art and sandtray therapy to support your personal growth and insights as we journey together in therapy. Whether you're navigating a life transition, seeking to improve relationships, or exploring your identity, I am here to support you.

A little more personal...

My personal journey into being a therapist was inspired by years working in higher education, witnessing firsthand the strength and resilience of individuals facing significant challenges, all while going to school, transitioning into demanding careers and other life events, and managing their relationships. This experience reinforced my belief in the power of vulnerability and connection over isolation. As Brené Brown puts it, "I define connection as the energy that exists between people when they feel seen, heard, and valued; when they can give and receive without judgment; and when they derive sustenance and strength from the relationship.”

As a Marriage and Family Therapist Associate and Professional Counselor Associate, I specialize in life transitions, stress and anxiety management, communication, self-esteem, empowerment, and the intersection of faith/spirituality with mental health. My practice particularly focuses on relationship issues and serving LGBTQ+ clients.

Taking the step towards therapy can be daunting, but it is an act of courage. Finding the right therapist is crucial, and I prioritize creating a collaborative and supportive therapeutic relationship. I invite you to reach out for a consultation or initial session when you're ready to embark on your mental health journey. Let's partner together to navigate life's challenges and celebrate your strengths.

The stats: I hold a Master's degree in Marriage, Couple, and Family Therapy from George Fox University, graduating in May 2024. My comprehensive internship at Clackamas and Oregon Pediatrics focused on children and families, enhancing my skills in addressing complex relational dynamics and developmental challenges. I am supervised by Meagan Sheehy, MA, LPC, LMFT.
